I also use Vuescan for my slides and can't complain. Kody is definitely more difficult to scan than Provia. One characteristic of scanning Kody slides will be the magenta (purplish) cast. just make sure when your in PS that you reduce it in color adjustment. I usually go anywhere between -4 to -10 depending on the severity of the cast.

The best scanners for Kodachrome were the last generation of Nikon Coolscan ED film scanners. I have been having troubles with scanning Kodachrome with a Nikon Coolscan 5000ED when using Vuescan. Previously I used Nikonscan but when I try using that the scanner now locks up. Vuescan seems to work but it does not seem to make as nice of a scan as the Nikonscan produced.
